The Zimbabwe India Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day 2025 took place at the HICC Hotel in Harare on March 19, 2025. The event focused on fostering development between Zimbabwe and India.

Attendees included ITEC alumni, government officials, and business leaders who came together to acknowledge the program’s significant contributions to capacity building and national development. During his address, Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Bramha Kumar emphasized the strengthening cooperation between the two nations, particularly in education and skills development.

“The ITEC program is one of India’s most successful capacity-building initiatives, benefiting over 150 countries, including Zimbabwe,” Ambassador Kumar stated. He also noted a rise in participation, with 209 Zimbabwean professionals enrolling in ITEC courses this year, an increase from 150 last year.

Since its inception in 1985, the program has provided Zimbabwe with 217 training slots annually in diverse fields such as agriculture, health, education, energy, and defense. Ambassador Kumar highlighted that the growing engagement showcases the robust ties between the two countries.

The Embassy of India collaborated with Zimbabwean authorities to celebrate this day focused on development, which included training Zimbabwean military personnel in cutting-edge technology. A representative from the Zimbabwean military expressed gratitude to the Indian government for this partnership.
